we love you dark matter…Dark Room Notes

November 20, 2009

Dark Room Notes – Arran, Ruairi, Ronan and Darragh – brought week 3 of Fresh Air to a close with three live tracks from their excellent debut album We Love You Dark Matter. Kicking off with a live version of album tracks Elm (which was recently remixed by Tuesday nights guest artist I Am the Cosmos) and Treetops they followed up with a brand new song Pine Cone.

The band released their album in Ireland this year, but have just been signed to London/Berlin label BBE through which the album will get a worldwide release next year.  In between chatting to Donal about making the record and how the band came together in the first place, they each selected tracks including: Dam Funk –  Galactic Fun , (another Dam Funk track was chosen by Spilly Walker last week) Phoenix Love Like a Sunset part 1, Phantogram (label mates on BBE) When I’m Small,  Depeche Mode – Wrong (see below), and a cracking remix of Treetops by Frenchie (which you can hear on the DRN myspace – scroll down the player). Somwhere in there was a mystery track from Arran’s CD of choices so if you recognise it let us know.

Donal played out the show with a Leo Zero remix of Florence and the Machine’s Rabbit Heart.

See Dark Room Notes live in the Roisin Dubh, Galway this Sunday for Fresh Air Live.

They then play two Dublin dates before they head off to the UK and Europe to tour the album.  The first of those is Sat 28th November for Twisted Pepper’s 1st birthday, followed by their own show on Jan 8th 2010 at The Academy.
